MAPUSA: Zapak Boys defeated Boa Vista A 3-2 to emerge winners of the Savio Martins Cup in the senior category of the inter-ward football tournament organised in collaboration with Bastora United Sports and Cultural Club and To 2 Boys, at DSYA ground opposite Holy Cross High School, Bastora, recently.
The 8-a-side event saw eight teams from the village actively participate in the inter-ward tournament.
Right from the start, Zapak Boys started to attack. In the dying minutes, Boa Vista A tried to equalise but it was too late. Both the teams displayed some good skills with the ball throughout the match.
While the participation of two teams was witnessed in the U-14 category which was held to promote grassroots football in the village, Bastora Boys got the better of GFDC Bastora, 5-2.
The Aldona MLA, Glenn Souza Ticlo was the chief guest at the valedictory function while social worker Aman Lotlikar was the guest of honour.
