Siolim-Marna road full of potholes

PWD has ignored the stretch from Cunchelim Junction to church, says sarpanch

MAPUSA: The whole stretch of Siolim-Marna road from Cunchelim Junction to Siolim church has developed minor and major potholes which are causing major inconvenience to the daily commuters, especially the motorists.

Many people have met with minor accidents and sustained injuries because it has become difficult to understand the depth of the pothole during heavy rains and after sunset.

It’s been almost two years now that the local residents as well as daily commuters are facing this hardship whilst driving on the Siolim-Marna road.

The Water Resources Department (WRD) has finished installation work of Tillari project before the monsoons, the PWD has failed to install a water pipeline.

One month back, Siolim-Marna Panchayat officials had approached the PWD and had demanded temporary repair of the road before the monsoon. However, PWD failed to repair the road.

“A month back we had approached the PWD and had requested to fill the potholes if hot-mixing cannot be taken up. The PWD has failed to keep up to its assurances. We are now requesting government authorities to look into this matter urgently since commuters are getting injured in these potholes,” said Sarpanch of Siolim Marna panchayat Sharmila Vernekar.
