COLVA: As part of the ongoing “Road Safety Awareness” month that will conclude on February 17, the Colva Traffic Cell organised a talk on road safety for the students of Infant Jesus High School, Colva, besides distributing pamphlets to auto-rickshaws, cab drivers and the domestic tourists visiting the popular Colva Beach.
Police Sub-Inspector Devu Mangaonkar informed Herald that “under the supervision of the Colva Traffic Police Inspector Viju Kovalekar, the Colva Traffic Cell conducted an educational drive for the school students, college students, rent-a-bike owners and their staff, auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi drivers, bus drivers and tourists visiting the Colva Beach wherein they were instructed regarding the importance of observing traffic rules and following traffic signals especially on the need of wearing helmets and seat belts, not to drive/ride under the influence of alcohol, not to use the mobile while riding/driving, etc. Around 49 school students of the Infant Jesus High School participated in the programme.

“We have also planned to hold rallies displaying banners while simultaneously booking traffic violation offences,” PSI Devu said.
