A Loving Tribute to “His Excellency”

Each one of us, sometime or the other has to go through an appointment. I too had a desire of having an appointment with “His Excellency” and didn’t expect it to be around soon. As I happen to learn from the print media that, “His Excellency” would be visiting Goa in October 2005, for an official event, I just took the liberty to communicate to “His Excellency’s” office at New Delhi, about my wish to have an appointment with him.
I was truly overwhelmed, to receive a positive reply from “His Excellency’s” office, a couple of days later, conveying therein “His Excellency’s” acceptance of my request, to meet him and further indicating the details of the appointment. A day prior to “His Excellency’s” arrival at Goa, a VIP venue entry card was couriered at my place, by his office.
Finally, the day of my appointment with “His Excellency” arrived and I remained present at the venue. As soon as “His Excellency” reached the Goa Legislative Assembly, Porvorim, with his convoy, he was accorded a glittering welcome by the dignitaries from the State Cabinet and the National Anthem was played in his honor and thereafter he was escorted to the Speakers Chamber. After a few minutes, a message was communicated to me in the waiting chamber, that it was my time to meet “His Excellency” and I was accordingly escorted to the venue.
On entering “His Excellency’s” chamber amidst very high security, I introduced myself to him, to which “His Excellency” warmly reciprocated and inquired the reason behind seeking an appointment with him. As I started conversing “His Excellency” heard me patiently and further advised and assured me of the needful. On our parting note “His Excellency” wished me great success in life. Inspite of being a VVIP and having a busy schedule, “His Excellency” didn’t let me down and kept his appointment with me. I was sincerely impressed with “His Excellency’s” simplicity, humbleness and warmth during my appointment with him.
Finally, I end by disclosing that, “His Excellency” is none other than our country’s adored, renowned scientist, missile man, Hon’ble former President of India late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Sir, who unexpectedly passed away a couple of months ago, causing irreparable loss to our nation, due to his fore-sightedness. I offer my heartfelt respectful homage to this great gentleman on his Birth Anniversary today (15th October ‘15).
