Cynthia representing ITI, Farmagudi beat Malisha of Don Bosco ITC, Fatorda in straight sets in a one-sided encounter 21-9, 21-3 in the
tennikoit, singles (girls) event at the South Goa inter-ITI competition held at SAG Sports Complex, Fatorda on Tuesday
Cynthia later reached the final beating Afsana of ITI, Margao also in straight sets 21-17, 21-16. Afsana had earlier got the better of Smitha of ITI, Canacona in three tight sets: 21-6, 12-21 and 21-18.
Krutika of ITI, Cacora, who had got a walk-over Fr. Agnel ITC, Verna player in the first round, later overcame the challenge of Kirti Morajkar representing ITI, Vasco in two easy sets: 21-17, 21-11 to also reach the finals where she will play Cynthia on January 15.
Cricket: ITI, Margao got the better of Don Bosco ITC, Fatorda by 5 wickets in the first match of the day in the South Goa inter-ITI competitions held at SAG Sports Complex, Fatorda on Tuesday.
Batting first, Fatorda put up a score of 41 for 7 wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Margao reached the winning target scoring 45 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Anup scored 8 runs and Sertorio captured 2 wickets for 8 runs for Margao, while, Kevin scored 12 not out for the Don Bosco team.
In the second match of the day, ITI, Vasco routed ITI, Canacona by 8 wickets. Pradeep Gawane and Sangmesh took 2 wickets apiece and helped restrict Canacona to 55/7 in their allotted 10 overs. Vasco reeled off the runs, scoring 56 runs for the loss of only two wickets with Manjunath Shetty scoring a fine knock of 29 not out. Mahendra Velip played well for Canacona scoring 11 runs.
Volleyball: In the first volleyball match of the day, ITI, Cacora spiked out ITI, Vasco in straight sets: 21-15, 21-17 with a fine team effort to deservingly reach the final.
In the next match, ITI, Margao made rough weather of their match before getting the better of Fr. Agnel ITC, Verna also in straight sets: 27-25, 21-16 to reach the semi-finals, where they will meet ITI, Canacona.
Football: ITI Farmagudi beat ITI Don Bosco, Fatorda 4-1 via tie-breaker. Goalkeeper Ghanashyam Jalmi was the hero of the day as he brought about three saves in the tie-breaker.
North Goa: ITI Mapusa beat ITI Pernem to meet ITI Panjim in the first semi-final of the tennikoit singles. ITI Mapusa beat ITI Panjim to reach the North Zone final.
In the second semi-final, ITI Bicholim beat ITI Sattari and reached the North Zone final. In the final, ITI Mapusa beat ITI Bicholim by 2-1 sets.
Cricket: In the match played between ITI Bicholim and ITI Mapusa, the latter scored 58 runs in the allotted 10 overs. In reply, ITI Bicholim scored 59 runs and won by 4 wickets.
ITI Panjim thrashed ITI Sattari by 36 runs. Gauresh ITI Panjim scored 54 runs and remained not out.
