PERNEM: The JMFC Pernem on Tuesday remanded a science teacher, aged 54, of a reputed high school in Pernem to three days police custody, for an alleged sexual assault on the student.

According to the police, the victim lodged a complaint with the Pernem Police Station a few days back alleging that a science teacher from the reputed high school had sexually assaulted her from 2015 till 2019.
The police informed that the victim was in Std 10 when the teacher allegedly threatened and blackmailed her saying he will fail her in the exams if she reveals about it to anyone. Further, he allegedly continued to assault her while threatening to kill her.
The police have booked the alleged accused person under Section 376, 506, POSCO [4] and Children Act 8 and was produced before the court. PSI Praful Giri is investigating the case.
