PANJIM: Minister for PWD Nilesh Cabral on Monday said the contractors are obligated to fix the potholes which are developed on Panjim roads and the department will make sure these are fixed within three to four months.

“Mentioning about the issue of Panjim city flooding during monsoon, Cabral assured that the PWD in every possible way will help the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) in case if they need any support in regards to eliminating the issue of flooding in Panjim.
Cabral was speaking at the launching ceremony of ‘Bandicoot’, a manhole cleaning robot, which will be used to eliminate manual scavenging and two sewer roding machines, which will be used for cleaning the choked sewage pipelines, where he was called upon as the guest of honour.
After the CCP handing these machines over to PWD, Cabral requested the citizens not to throw unwanted things in the lavatory that will result in choking of sewage lines.
“Four tipper trucks each of five-cubic capacity, hopper tipper truck each of 10.5 cubic capacity and two camper vehicles were also launched,” Nagesh Sawant Talaulikar, junior engineer, Solid Waste Management (SWM) said.
