VASCO: The Vasco based Shotokon Karate Do Indian Association set up a world record by punching 17,600 reverse punches in a minute with the participation of 88 Karate students at a time, organised by the Excellent World Records Pvt. Ltd, (Book of Records) in association with Shotokon Karate Do Indian Association Vasco, at Chicalim Panchayat ground.
The panel of judges for the event were, Vinod Kumar Varma, Basant Upadhyay and Avinash Vishwakarm.

The students of Shotokon Karate Do Indian Association who have set up the World Record were then felicitated by Minister for Transport and Panchayats Mauvin Godinho who was the chief guest in the presence of the councillor of Mormugao Municipal Council (ward-22) Sudesh Bhosle and principal of Mother of Mercy School Vaddem Joy D’Souza who were the guest of honours.
