Vasco: Highly placed officials in the office of the contractor of the Zuari bridge have insisted on diversion of the traffic away from the work site from Cortalim to Verna. Officials claim the same is required for larger public safety and also for the contractor to enable completion of the work of the massive bridge work on time and their thrust will be for diversion of traffic.
The work of the Zuari bridge is on schedule and is 40% complete according to the contractor. Highly placed officials of the contractor of Zuari Bridge Dilip Buildcon have revealed the plan of diversion is still in the discussion stage and nothing concrete has been decided on that front. However, the contractor has also claimed that they have requested for diversion of vehicular traffic for the safety of the people. “Lot of proposals are moving around for diversion but nothing concrete has been come out. It is for the District Administration to decide” said officials of Dilip Buildcon. An official anonymously told “The safety of people is of paramount importance for us. Secondly, the work of the bridge is average more them 40% complete at this juncture. As it can be seen a lot of work is yet to be completed and because of the safety of vehicular movement and keep up with the pace we have been working during day and night as well” said the official.
“The work is on schedule as we are doing working day night both. But our thrust will definitely be for diversion so that the public is safe” said the official. Reports of the plan having been put on hold have also been making rounds after there was widespread opposition to the diversion. The Deputy Collector of Mormugao Mahadev Arondekar said “At the moment my office is not in receipt of any diversion plan and neither my office is in the loop for any meetings for the above discussion. I will be able to speak only after I have all the info of the above plan” said Deputy Collector.
