MARGAO: Fr Agnel Youth Club, Paroda breezed past Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Mc Dowell’s No.1 Yaari Premier Cup Football tournament, organized by Cuncolim Union, at Cuncolim ground, on Friday. In the first half, Fr Agnel YC led 2-0.
Fr Agnel YC started attackingly and Anthony Dias put them ahead off an assist by Patrick Lima.
Thereafter, Sao Jose de Areal SC showed determination to bounce back by Francis Barretto’s promising move was foiled by the rival defence.
In the 23rd minute, Fr Agnel YC doubled their advantage through a delightful free-kick converted by Manish Oliveira.
Crossing over, Sao Jose de Areal SC came from behind to score as Francis finished with a neat placement in the 46th minute.
Fr Agnel YC tried to score in the 56th minute but Anthony Dias’ rasping shot was blocked by the rival goalkeeper.
