Sattari teen held for raping minor

Valpoi police arrested a 19-year-old youth from Coperde-Sattari on charges of raping a seven-year-old girl from the same village.
According to Valpoi Police Inspector Shivram Vaigankar, the accused who was close neighbour of the victim, used to frequently visit girl’s house in the absence of her parents, who go out for work whole day.
PI Vaigankar further informed that on January 5, the accused allegedly raped the minor girl at her house when her parents had gone out for work in the afternoon.
However, the girl’s mother filed a police complaint on January 10 after the girl was medically examined when she narrated the incident to her mother.
Valpoi Police registered the case against the accused under Section 8 of Goa Children Act. The accused is in police custody at Valpoi Police Station.
Police is investigating the case.
