CALANGUTE: The Calangute police arrested one Pawan Kalak (29), a resident of Betim, Bardez with ganja worth Rs 25,000 on Sunday at Maddowado, Calangute.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi informed that he received information that the accused would to Calangute parking with some drugs for delivery to prospective customers.
Accordingly, a team was formed which waited by the road side in civil clothe. On seeing the accused coming to the spot, the police immediately rounded him up and detained him.
During the personal search, the accused was found in possession of ganja worth Rs 25,000 in the international market. The accused was brought to the police station and placed under arrest. An offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered. The raid went on from 12.30 am to 2 am. The raiding team consisted of PSI Ramesh Shirodkar, LPSI Sapna Gawas, Constables Dinesh Morajkar, Shashank Sakhalkar and Vinod Kerkar and other staff.
