CANACONA: Canacona police arrested an Italian national and a native of Kashmir on charges of dumping garbage by the roadside.
Continuing its tirade against garbage nuisance in the tourism belt of Canacona, the newly formed NGO ‘Goenkar Canacona’ filed police complaints against the Italian national and the Kashmiri native.
The Italian national is running a restaurant at Agonda, while the Kashmiri is running a shop on main beach road of Palolem.
Providing proof of their involvement, the NGO on Thursday filed complaint with Canacona police against Giorgio Vulpitta for throwing garbage on the roadside on the internal road from Karmathal leading to Agonda.
“While travelling from Karmalghat road towards Agonda, we noticed four plastic bags containing garbage at about 500 metres and when opened, we found wet garbage, clamp shells, papers, plastic bags, kitchen waste and bill copies of ‘Bom Bom Restaurant,’ Agonda,” stated the NGO in its complaint.
“On approaching the restaurant, Giorgio Vulpitta admitted that he had thrown the garbage by the roadside. Hence, we lodged the complaint against Vulpitta,” stated the complainant.
Canacona police said the accused, Giorgio Ferdinand Vulpitta, was arrested and produced before JMFC Canacona who fined him and the accused was later released.
On Friday, the NGO filed another complaint against Adnan Zaza for throwing a plastic bag by the roadside at Patnem. The bag contained wet garbage, tissue, plastic pampers, and tenant verification forms of Zaza.
“On contacting Zaza at Palolem, he admitted to having thrown the garbage by the roadside at Patnem. Hence, we lodged a complaint against Zaza for throwing garbage by the roadside and causing nuisance,” states the complaint against the Kashmiri native.
Canacona police said Zaza was arrested and later released after he was fined by JMFC Canacona.
