MARGAO: Finally, taking no risks, the government authorities have decided to completely demolish the B 3 and B 4 type government buildings at Junta Quarters in Pajifond-Margao, which are primarily occupied by police personnel, as a result, the families of nearly 20 police personnnel are on run searching for new places to stay.
The demolition plan aims to address safety concerns but has created a pressing need for alternative housing solutions for these families.

Following the directions from the Public Works Department, the South Goa Police headquarters has directed nearly 20 police personnel to vacate their quarters immediately.
It is pertinent to note that, according to the occupants, the lack of timely maintenance has led to the poor condition of these buildings, making it increasingly hazardous for police personnel to continue residing there.
In the past, incidents were reported of roof slabs falling onto the floor, along with leakages during the rainy seasons. The deteriorating condition of the B-type quarters has consistently posed a risk to the occupants’ safety.
According to sources, KPB Civil Engineering Services, a Pune-based firm, conducted a non-destructive test (NDT) and recommended the complete demolition of the B-type quarters. ollowing the recommendation, the Public Works Department has decided to proceed with the demolition of the buildings and has
instructed the police department to have the personnel occupying the quarters vacate immediately.
In a notice issued by the South Goa Superintendent of Police, it was stated that occupants must vacate the quarters immediately as a safety measure.
“In this regard, you are hereby directed to vacate the quarters immediately and hand over possession to the Police Inspector at Fatorda police station to prevent any untoward incidents,” the notice further stated.
However, the families of nearly 20 police personnel are now urgently searching for new residences, having been given little time to vacate their current quarters. Consequently, the occupants have appealed to the authorities to accommodate them in other buildings within the Junta Quarters complex. The rush to find new housing has added significant stress to those affected by the evacuation.
