MARGAO: The problem faced by eight daily wage contract labourers of Margao Municipal Council (MMC) who despite retiring in 2016 have not received their Provident Fund is likely to be resolved at a meeting scheduled with the Commissioner of Provident Fund on Tuesday.
Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik is scheduled to meet the commissioner tomorrow morning and he has invited representatives of the retired labourers to meet the commissioner so that their problems are resolved once and for all.
He even offered to swear an affidavit if necessary to resolve the problem and added that all documents that he has submitted, would be available for their scrutiny tomorrow.
Workers’ representative Camilo Barbosa was present at today’s meeting as earlier when CO and Camilo met they had an altercation resulting in both filing complaints with the police only to withdraw them subsequently in the evening.
