MARGAO: Sirlim Sports Club edged past Snow’s Football Academy, Raia 1-0 in the GFA U-16 football league match, at Raia panchayat ground, on Tuesday.
Sirlim missed a chance to score in the seventh minute as Leister Fernandes shot wide.
Thereafter, Snow’s FA were on the back-foot as Malapa Hirappa’s dangerous move had to be cleared to safety.
Sirlim SC’s Leister than lacked firepower to score after receiving the ball off a free-kick.
At the other end, Snow’s FA came close to scoring after Nigel Coutinho tested the goalkeeper from distance before Kingsly Dias missed to finish in a one-to-one situation.
In the second half, Snow’s FA continued in search of the opener as Roland Vaz headed from a free-kick towards the goalkeeper who saved it.
Sirlim SC were awarded a penalty after Roland brought down Shanbulinga Thappa inside the box. Rayan Pinto took the penalty and scored to break the deadlock in the 67th minute.
Snow’s FA had a chance to equalize when Nigel Coutinho sent in a perfect cross from the right flank which almost went into the net.
