Since 2013-14, government has introduced allied health science courses in GMC with enrollment of 100 students every year. From this academic year onwards, the admissions would be based on the common entrance test (CET), Parsekar said. Five courses are offered under this science.
There are total five courses under this – Bachelor of physiotherapy (four year course with six month internship), Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (four year course with six month internship), Bachelor of Optometry (three year course with one year internship), BSc in Medical Imaging Technology (three year course with one year internship) and BSc in Anesthesiology Technology (three year course with one year internship).
The chief minister said that government has decided to sanction 10 new posts on regular basis apart from the present 18 staffers in the teaching faculty.
