MARGAO: Agitated Davondem residents on Tuesday met Morgao Municipal Council (MMC) chief officer to register their objection against an ‘under construction’ petrol pump on an open land along the highway. They demanded that the same be blocked.
The people complained that the work is being done by erecting a board of a pharmacy and clinic.
Johnny Crasto, a former councillor said, “We don’t want a petrol pump in our locality as there are so many cultivable fields on all the sides of the said land.”
Meanwhile, the chief officer said that the permission for the petrol pump was given recently by the SGPDA after which the permission was given of the same by the MMC.
The MMC technical team in the evening inspected the site where the person developing the site clarified that he had initially sought permission for a petrol pump and got the same but has recently changed his plan and decided to have a 24×7 pharmacy and a consulting room there.
