PANJIM: Goa will soon have a Vidya Samiksha Kendra, which will track progress of not only students but teachers as well.
After honouring eight teachers with Chief Minister’s Vashishtha Guru Purashkar 2023 at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “Very soon we will start a Vidya Samiksha Kendra which will track progress of not only students but teachers as well. While being in the Panjim, we can know what teachers are teaching in any of the schools across the State. What is the progress of students of any school?”

The Chief Minister said, “Many people tell me that there is huge unemployment in the State. But if we make efforts in the right direction then after 25 years not a single youth will lag behind in securing employment,” he said.
Sawant said lots of changes have been brought in the field of education sector during the last three-four years. He said the MoUs signed by the State government during the last few years have started bearing fruits and changes are seen now.
The Chief Minister said foundation is being laid in the education sector for developed Goa of 2047 and urged the students to join the apprenticeship programme started under Swayampurna Goa initiative.
Sawant said the foundation course started under New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will improve education in the State.
The Chief Minister also urged the teachers from the State to apply for the National Teachers Award in large numbers.
Secretary (Education) Prasad Lolayekar stressed on strengthening the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) as it will improve the quality of education in the State. He said that the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has shown interest in establishing all laboratories of SCERT.
The aim of the government is to make education available to people of all sections of society, Lolayekar added.
On the occasion, Lolayekar felicitated the Assistant District Educational Inspectors (ADEIs) from Bardez, Sattari and Bicholim for their exceptional efforts in collecting Teachers’ Welfare Fund.
The event also featured video clips of the eight award-winning teachers expressing their gratitude and feelings.
Earlier, Director of Education Shailesh Zingade welcomed the gathering and Deputy Director of Education (Academics) Sindhu Prabhu Dessai compered. Director of SCERT Dr Shambhu Ghadi proposed a vote of thanks.
