PANJIM: Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday rubbished speculation surrounding the health of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is ailing with pancreatic cancer.
Sardesai met Parrikar at his private residence at Dona Paula and ruled out that the CM is on life support as reported by some media.
“Parrikar’s health situation is not as bad as it is being projected. The news is being floated that he is on life support. He is not on life support,” Sardesai told reporters following his meeting with the CM that lasted almost half an hour.
“I spoke to him for more than half an hour, and a person who is on life support will not be in position to talk. I spoke to him on different issues like work, politics and code of conduct,” he added. “I don’t find the situation that bad. He is fine,” Sardesai stated.
Parrikar, 63, is recuperating at his private residence. There was speculation of the CM’s deteriorating health conditions after a team of doctors was rushed to his house on Friday night.
The Minister said that his visit was to get clearance for a file related to the construction of a kabrastan in Margao, which was pending due to financial approval.
“Actually, I had not come to inquire about his health. I had come to follow up a file about kabrastan in Margao for which we wanted financial provision up to Rs 15 crore. He has cleared the file. The financial order will be issued on Monday,” he said.
