PANJIM: Goa Police said they have sufficient evidence to file a charge sheet in the murder case of perfumer Monika Ghurde who was killed last month in Sangolda. Police are, however, awaiting the scientific reports from CFSL-Hyderabad.
Speaking to Herald, North Goa Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar confirmed having enough evidence and said, “We are waiting for the reports of all exhibits which have been sent for forensic analysis which is very crucial evidence to prove the crime,” Gaonkar said.
He said the exhibits including viscera, blood stains, semen, hair sent to CFSL Hyderabad. Police are also awaiting the chemical analysis report and DNA profiling of the accused, sent to the same laboratory.
All the exhibits were delivered in person by Goa Police to CFSL-Hyderabad, Gaonkar said and added that besides the scientific evidence there are crucial witnesses Saligao police have gathered. “We have two key witnesses who saw the accused while jumping the place leading to terrace,” Gaonkar said.
Ghurde was murdered on October 6 at Sangolda where she was residing in rented premises. Goa Police have arrested Punjab native Rajkumar Singh, a former security guard in the complex, who was sacked prior to the murder.
Police traced Singh and arrested him in Bengaluru within 48 hours of the crime. Singh has confessed to the crime.
