Govt should have hired motorcycle pilots for home delivery services: Sanguem locals

Sanguem: Motorcycle pilots from Sanguem have urged the government to provide some relief to the motorcycle pilots since they are reeling without any business since the time of nationwide lockdown all over the country.

With no other source of income, the pilots who depend solely on this business for their daily, have stated that they have been severely affected and are worried about their livelihood.

“While the government has given some relief and also supplied grocery items to the labour class, no consideration of whatsoever nature is provided to the motorcycle pilots, said, Vinay Naik a pilot operating from Sanguem Bus Stand.

“Due to no business and as we are compelled to stay indoors since March 23, our family members have been living in difficult conditions,” Naik added. 

He also added that the government should have employed pilots to provide home delivery services. 

“If the government had thought on these lines, there would have been less movement of people to the grocery stores and vegetable markets as people could have placed their orders and the home delivery of supplies could have been done by the motorcycle pilots,” Naik added.

He also reiterated their concerns about what will happen to them given the extension of the lockdown till May 3.
