MARGAO: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded that PWD declares the names of contractors and officials against the photos of potholes.
AAP said it was heartening to note that the PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar was humble enough to acknowledge that his department’s knowledge about potholes was less than the public in Goa and welcomed his call for photos of bad roads to be uploaded on WhatsApp.
At the same time, AAP said that people were keen to know why the minister was using his personal social media handle and wondered whether he was not confident of coming out officially through the PWD dept.
AAP said it expects people to flood the given telephone number with a good response. However, in return, they said the PWD minister should declare the names of the contractor and the engineers concerned who were responsible for the said roads including the names of ministers during whose tenures the shoddy works were carried out. AAP South Goa Leader Ramiro Mascarenhas said, “People will cooperate with the PWD by sending photos of potholed roads as requested by the minister, provided wide publicity is given through the information department. But they should also know in whose pockets, the commissions have gone for compromising on the quality of the works.”
