There was a bright note and a ray of hope when the much-awaited investment policy was released in July. The policy envisaged creating 50,000 jobs and bringing in Rs 25,000 crore in investment in the next five years. It also looked at setting up of an investment board headed by the chief minister to facilitate and speed up the process of setting up and/or expanding industry. The board will decide only on large projects that require investments of above Rs 5 crore or land above 3000 sq mts.
The previous industrial policy of the State was done in 2003 and its life span increased till 2013 by former chief minister Digambar Kamat.
