With the election around the corner, a lot of effort is being taken by the electoral
committee to convince people and the youth in general to vote on April 23, with
various campaigns and activities. Along with the fun Selfie contest campaign, a
number of election icons (some who are musicians) have come together to compose
election anthems and theme songs.
One of the most recent songscomposed for the Chief Election
Commission Goa to promote Ethical Voting was ‘Navi Sapna’released on April 7,
Sunday evening at Miramar in the presence of the North Goa collector,
mamlatdars, election icons, guests and public.
The song is composed arranged, recorded, mixed and sung by
Mukesh Ghatwal, and the Song Lyrics is written by John Aguiar who also wrote
last year’s Election song Lyrics for election Commission. Mukesh and John are
both North Goa district election icons.

As an Election Icon, Mukesh has been creating awareness through
his songs. “The music is my original composition and is created in such a way
that it attracts the youth as well as the older generation to focus on
utilizing their voting rights,” says Mukesh.
The video has crossed 2000 views in just two days and the song
has reached almost every corner of Goa passing a loud and clear message that we
all should click on the electronic voting ballet. The song has an emotional
finishing touch.
As per the election
commission the concept of the music video was to have all the icons voting and
people joining them to vote. “There were almost 60 people for the shoot, it was
nice experience to work with all,” adds Mukesh.
Isha Sawant, the
nodal officer for SVEEP (SystematicVoters’ Education and Electoral
Participation) explains that there are many other songs come out in purpose of
promoting elections and the election icons are together working on composing
and shooting videos. There are also live concerts at Miramar that occur every
now and then. ““We are trying to promote in every way so that the contest
reaches to the maximum populous. Last time it was the Selfie contest which is
still going on, and now with the songs it is going to be wholesome experience,”
says Isha.
Mukesh Ghatwal has
also given music for another song to be released today at the collectorate of
South Goa. The song is called ‘Go Vote, make every vote count’, composed and
sung by Marialena, singer, musician and election icon from South district. “My
music video is an appeal to voters to not sell their vote. Go ahead n vote,
every vote counts. The video feature doctors, engineers, students and so people
from various fields preparingto vote,” she says. Marialena looks forward to
encourage a lot of people to vote in the upcoming elections.
“I
believe music has a way of inspiring people if nothing else can,” expresses
Marialena.
