BENAULIM: Bengaluru Football Club defeated Redstar Football Academy Thrissur 1-0 to qualify for semi-finals of the AIFF U-16 Youth League (Nike Premier Cup), at Benaulim ground, on Sunday.
Bengaluru FC striker Mohammed Ansar collected the ball from midfielder Amay Morajkar, zoomed into the Redstar box and shot but to his dismay Alex Saji, defender of Redstar tackled his move.
Shebin Siral midfielder of Redstar, gave a fine pass to Isak Vanlalruatfela but the midfielder after collecting the ball failed to shot on the rival target in the tenth minute.
Bengaluru FC captain Joseph Vanlalhruaia should have found the ball at the back in the 23rd minute but the latter’s shot was denied by rival goalpost.
Mohammed Ansar striker of Bengaluru wasted the best chance to score in the 40th minute as he ballooned his effort over the bar.
The nippy left footer of Bengaluru FC set his eyes on the open net of Redstar in the 43rd minute as the rival goalkeeper was not in position but Alex Saji, defender of Redstar managed to clear the ball from the goalline in the 44th minute.
It took 69th minutes for Bengaluru FC to score. Rahul Rajan strike from the left flank off Joseph Vanlalrhuaia’s assist game no chance for the rival keeper.
Rahul Rajan had an easy go in the 86th minute but the latter’s shot hit the Redstar cross piece and went out of play.
In another match held at Nagoa ground, Sudeva FC defeated DSK Shivajians FC 4-3.
Ralte opend the account for Sudeva FC in the 25th minute. Within four minutes, DSK equalised through Laldawngkhima.
DSK took the lead through Umair Saiyyad to make it 2-1 in the 34th minute.
Bhupinder Singh of Sudeva FC levelled terms, 2-2 in the 45th minute and took the lead through Vanlalzaltawma in the 50th minute.
Within nine minutes Malsawmtluanga levelled for DSK.
It was Vantulalzuma who scored the match-winner for Sudeve FC in the 70th minute.
