PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday flagged off and handed over a 15-metre-long fast interceptor patrolling boat to Coastal Police at a function held at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) premises, Vasco.

All the nine patrolling boats of the Goa Police were non-operational. The Rs 5.5-crore worth well-equipped interceptor patrolling boat with latest weapons has been built by the GSL and it will help the Coastal Police maintain safety and security of the coastline of the State, said Sawant.
He said that the Goa Police had purchased three Ideaforge micro unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) drones which will be put to use across the State for security, safety, tracking of criminal activities, traffic congestion etc. Later, the Chief Minister also inaugurated Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) drones.
