Story: Benoy (Willy) promises to take care of his parents, Claudia (Dola) and Sanjit (Pascoal Rodrigues), but certain incidents and circumstances result in him going back on his word
Review:
Claudia and Sanjit bring up their only son Binoy with love and affection. Initially, Binoy cannot forget the sacrifices made by his parents and promises to love and care for them in their old age.
Binoy falls in love with Alice (Cia), who belongs to a rich family. But the truth is that Alice’s father, Armand Cota (Pradeep Naik),became rich overnight by cheating people and providing finance to those in need via deposit of gold ornaments. Alice’s brother, Roltin (Filipe), joins priesthood, but is sent back because of his father’s bad reputation in the village.
After marrying Binoy, Aliceproves to be a loving a caring daughter-in-law. But that compassion evokes envy in Benoy. Then when Claudia is diagnosed with cancer and Sanjit meets with an accident and loses his sight and limb, Benoy finds his parents a burden.
To avoid further hardships at home, Benoy decides to vacate the house and move in with his father-in-law, Armand, along with his wife.
Now, will Claudia and Sanjit be able to sail in troubled waters single-handedly? Is Alice willing to leave her ailing in-laws? How does Binoy react when his father-in-law meets a watery grave? What is the end result?
Comedian Agostinho’s second non-stop tiatr, ‘Eka Meka Pasot’, has an interesting story to relate, with various unexpected developments at every turn. Although a family melodrama, it carries a lesson or two for every household.
As guardians, Dola and Pascoal display ample talent and do justice to their respective roles. They are ably assisted by Willy and Cia, though the latter’s voice appears too soft. But the new entrant definitely has a bright future on the Konkani stage.
Damian and Benny de Aldona’s brief entries as the depressed and priest respectively deserve a mention. As the comical couple, Indira (Janet) and Tadeu (Jaju) give their best and they are supported by Cameron (comedian Agostinho) and Browny (Selvy).
But among all the artistes, Pradeep Naik as the villain takes the cake, both for his dialogue and body language.
The cantos introduced in the tiatr are appealing, but the concluding trio by comedian Agostinho, Janet and Selvy appears to be stretched.
