SANGUEM: The citizens from Sanguem have demanded for immediate filling up of the posts of Mamlatdar and Joint Mamlatdar at Sanguem which has been lying vacant since past several months.
The absence of the two main officers in the taluka has made the citizens not only from Sanguem but also from other parts of the State to a great extent.
The office of the Sanguem mamlatdar which is sanctioned with a mamlatdar and two joint mamlatdars is presently functioning with just one joint mamlatdar and this has severely affected the services at the Sanguem Mamlatdar Office.
Besides the routine mundkar and tenancy cases, prime services as that of mutation and other day to day matters are delayed for want of mamlatdars.
The most to effect are mutation cases which people long to take place since past several months. While the lone joint mamlatdar is working and certifying the cases coming within the villages earmarked to her section within the stipulated time, citizens who have purchased properties and plots of lands in other areas are eagerly waiting for the posting of new mamlatdars to get their work done.
There are instances of individuals waiting for almost eight months to get their mutation entry done by the certifying officers and this has kept on hold the future plans of the landowners.
Meanwhile, the citizens from Sanguem led by social activist Meshu D’Costa have urged the government for the installation of lift in the government office complex at Sanguem.
In the absence of the lift, citizens, particularly senior citizens, and those suffering from ailments are facing extreme hardship in climbing the three floor building premise.
D’Costa informed that the government at the time of constructing the building had made provision for the lift but the same is not installed till date.
While the first floor of the building premise is occupied by the offices of mamlatdar and joint mamlatdars, the other two floors are occupied by PWD and the Veterinary Department.
Citizens are also reported to be facing problems in reaching the Veterinary Department which is housed on the third floor in the absence of a lift.
D’Costa along with others have urged for immediate installation of a lift to the government administrative building at Sanguem at the earliest to ease the problems faced by the people from Sanguem particularly senior citizens and those with ailments.
