Better train connectivity urged

BELGAUM: Commuters from Belgaum have demanded the immediate deployment of various trains for north Karnataka and Goa region, to provide better train connectivity with north and south India.

A delegation of prominent citizens, including Belgaum MP Suresh Angadi and former president of Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industries Satish Tendolkar, on Friday submitted a memorandum to South Western Railway (SWR) authorities.
The demand included the immediate commencement of the Patna-Purna-Vasco express and a couple of new trains that were introduced in the Railway Budget last year.
The memorandum was submitted to SWR General Manager Pradeep Kumar Saksena who was on a visit to Belgaum and Khanapur railway stations.
Meanwhile, commuters from Khanapur also submitted a memorandum to Saksena demanding a halt of the Vasco-Nizamuddin daily super-fast express at Khanapur.
