Dempo SC, Vasco split points; Guardian Angel SC win

MAPUSA: Vasco Sports Club put up a splendid display to hold mighty Dempo Sports Club to a 3-3 draw in the GFA’s Professional League match played at Duler stadium, here, on Friday.
At half time, Dempo SC led by a 3-1 margin with Felix Odili Chidi and Beevan D’Mello (2) scoring while Jason Vaz managed to net in a goal for Vasco SC.
It was Vasco SC who should have broken the deadlock in the match, however, Nagesh Naju was guilty of squandering two open goal scoring opportunities.
While Vasco SC failed to convert from the opportunities they created Dempo SC took the lead in the 21st minute of play when Amar Halankar sent a long ball to Chidi, who charged into the rival danger zone and drilled the ball home, 1-0.
Within a couple of minutes, Vasco SC responded with the equalizer when Princeton Rebello set up skipper Jason who on getting the better of the defenders, beat the onrushing Dempo SC keeper Tyson Caiado with an adroit placement, 1-1.
After some midfield play, Dempo SC stepped up the tempo of the match and initiated a series of raids.
Vasco SC keeper Jerson did well under the horizontal bar to push away Chidi’s fierce strike at the goal.
In the 43rd minute of play, Beevan managed to give the Golden Eagles the lead when he positioned himself perfectly to give finishing touches to Shallum Pires cross, 2-1.
A minute into injury time, Beevan once again got into the scoring act when he got hold of the ball from Anthony D’Souza and scored through a placing strike, 3-1.
On resumption of play, Dempo SC seemed to be pleased with their two-goal lead, however, Vasco SC proved them wrong when they fired twice, to finish off the match 3-3.
In the 53rd minute, Franck Alves Kouassi made his way past the Dempo SC defenders and set the ball on platter to Jason, who seeing the keeper off his line, lobbed the ball into the empty nets, 2-3.
In the 59th minute of play, Jason was once again at the helm of the Vasco SC attack, he ran down the right flank and flashed the ball across the Dempo SC goal where Olivin Cardozo gave the all-important final touch to guide the ball home, 3-3.
At Poriat ground, Guardian Angel Sports Club managed to register a solitary goal win over Calangute Association Sports Club.
The only goal of the match was scored by Perryson Rebello in the 65th minute.
