Eight workers remain trapped within the SLBC tunnel in Telangana following a partial collapse that occurred on February 22. Rescue teams, comprising personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, and the Indian Army, are engaged in continuous efforts; however, they have not yet succeeded in locating the workers due to the operation’s inherent complexities.
As the search for the eight workers trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) enters its tenth day, progress remains minimal. The workers have been confined since the incident on February 22, and despite the ongoing efforts by various agencies, authorities have not been able to ascertain their precise whereabouts.

NDRF Commandant VVN Prasanna Kumar reported that approximately 300 personnel, comprising members from the NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army, and HYDRA, are actively engaged in the rescue operations.
“The operation is progressing vigorously. Regrettably, we have not yet succeeded in locating the victims due to the operation’s inherent complexities. Nevertheless, both state and central governments are exerting their utmost efforts,” he stated. Rescue teams are currently examining sites identified by scientists from the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) in Hyderabad, who performed a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey within the tunnel. The scientists have detected only metallic objects at certain locations, which has led to further drilling at sites exhibiting ‘anomalies.’ Officials indicated that scientists are prepared to conduct additional surveys as conditions within the tunnel become more favorable.
