PANJIM: Unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions this season, Salgaocar FC will look to seal the Goa Pro League title when they take on Cavelossim in the Super League phase on November 28, at Cuncolim ground, at 4 p.m. Six points clear atop, with a game in hand; the Greens need just one point from the remaining three matches to reclaim the title they had last won in 2012-13. It will be their second title this season, having clinched the Durand Cup, played in Goa for the very first time, earlier this month.
Salgaocar FC have amassed 26 points from their 10 games thus far, courtesy eight wins and only two draws. As and when the Greens clinch the title, it shall be the 21st occasion on which they will be crowned champions of Goa.
“We have been training extremely hard since the start of the season and I’m glad the boys have been able to execute most of what we’ve practised on the training ground. We will look to give another good account of ourselves tomorrow,” commented coach Derrick Pereira, who insists on taking it one game at a time.
“Winning the Durand Cup has done the confidence of the youngsters a world of good. In football, self-belief is an important virtue,” he added.
In another encounter, Tuff Laxmi Prasad Sports Club will take on Dempo Sports Club at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, at 4 p.m.
