Recently the Delhi law minister was in the news for all the wrong reasons. He had allegedly furnished a fake degree when filing his nomination. We hear that the Delhi police swooped down on him, at the behest of the BJP Lieutenant Governor and took him into custody, where he is still languishing. The Delhi BJP created a ruckus demanding his resignation and that of the chief minister. The law minister tendered his resignation. Kudos to the authorities for apprehending a crook, as all crooks must be punished.
The scene now shifts to Goa. Two ministers in the ruling dispensation have tied themselves in knots, trying to justify their false affidavits regarding their qualifications. It is clear to everyone that both these ministers are under-graduates, but have tried to project themselves as graduates. The justification given in both cases is pathetic and is not worth mentioning. However, now the ruling BJP seems to be tightlipped on this issue. Should they not be clamouring for the resignations of the concerned ministers and the CM? Is it asking for too much if we ask the Goa Law minister to speak out and set the record straight for the common man? Or like so many other issues nowadays, will this too be swept under the carpet, because there is no opposition in Goa worth its salt? Talk about “acche din” and “party with a difference”.
