PANJIM: Existence of ruins of the Kadamba port dating around 11th century and houses built along the coastal belt post 1991 are some of the major highlights of the village level coastal zone management plan (CZMP) prepared by St Lawrence Agassaim panchayat. The plan has been submitted to the department of environment for necessary corrections.
Sarpanch Xavier Gracias said that there were major anomalies in the draft CZMP prepared by National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management.
He said that the ruins of Kadamba port that exists in Agassaim was shown as mere boundary line instead of the port and the same has been corrected in the revised plan prepared by the village.
The villagers had raised concerns about wrong demarcation of low tide line so also non-incorporation of the biodiversity existing in the village.
In one of the major demands, the villagers have asked government to incorporate all the houses existing along the coastal belt of the village rather than considering only those existing prior to 1991.
The village plan has also deleted several structures like the additional fishermen wards.
