PANJIM: Under the banner Realistic Dreams, Valpoi, ‘Ek Mhunn’nni Asa, Somzon Ghenvchi’, a tiatr penned by Aamar P Sawanth and directed by Rosario Botelho focuses on youth being trapped by fame and glamour and its dire consequences.
The story revolves around Fredy (Rosario Botelho) his wife, Freeda (Genevieve Rodrigues) and their two middle-aged children Flavio (Joevino Gonsalves) and Flora (Natasha Pereira).
While the son dreams of becoming Ronaldo in the field of football, the daughter has high expectations in the field of modelling. Financial constraints do not permit the father to support his daughter in making her dreams come true.
Rita (Liby Mendonca), who belongs to a middle-class family, steps in and expresses her desire to take Flora as her future daughter-in-law. But Flora shows reluctance as she fears it may hamper her carrier in modelling.
When Flora participates in the India Fashion Week and gets crowned, what follows next? Will she be able to cope with up with the situation? Who assists whom to provide justice to Flora?
Tiatr ‘Ek Mhunn’nni Asa, Somzun Ghenvchi’ had a good concept, with fine performance by all the artistes. The manner in which the youth get carried away by name, fame and the repercussions that follow have been highlighted in the drama.
As guardians, Rosario Botelho and Genevieve Rodrigues shine on stage, with ample display of emotions. They have been ably supported by Joevino and Natasha, who looked comfortable in their respective acts. As mom, Liby Mendonca was in command, while Netwin Antao as her son did justice to his role. Pranav, Joven, Lionel and the rest extended good support to the main cast.
In the comic acts, Aston, Joan and Rocky teamed up for some laughter pills, although some jokes were old and stale.
In the category of songs, Santana Marques, Kenny Rodrigues, Melcia and Narcio de Divar entertained with their solos, while Aston and Kenny were appealing with their duo. But some singers faltered in their singing skills, thus bringing in boredom.
The stage sets by Rajendra Salgaonkar need to be commended, but there was poor execution of lights. Bikru Fernandes took a good lead with live music, while Sanjay Vernekar handled the background score efficiently.
