PANJIM: The Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) informed the government about blunders caused by employees working on contract or extensions after retirement and has sought immediate action against these employees.
GGEA stated that these employees can indulge in corruption and corrupt practises and tarnish the image of government servants.
GGEA has demanded immediate the arrest of Lingu Gaude, a retired head clerk of the Electricity Department working on contract after retirement as he violated provisions of law by promoting Kiran Kambli without following the department protocol.
John Nazareth, president of the association said, “Lingu Gaude cannot misuse his powers, and promote any employee, as per his whims. Protocol should be followed and therefore no extensions should be given to any employee, in any department or company. Gaude should be arrested immediately. Currently there are 50 retired employees working on extension, and immediate action should be taken against them.”
GGEA stated that the organisation is against service extensions as retired employees could misuse their powers. Also, due to the extensions, promotional avenues of other employees are stalled.
GGEA has also demanded the immediate transfer of Ramkrishna Vithal Gauns, an employee of the State Directorate of Craftsmen Training who is a disabled person, to an office nearest to his residence as per the law.
Nazareth said, “five to six months’ salary is not given to some employees at the State Craftsmen Training, and it has been observed that the employees are working under some kind of pressure.” GGEA has requested an appointment with the director on Thursday.
Nazareth added, “Immediate action should be taken in all the issues or else GGEA will have some kind of treatment similar to the disgraceful felicitation they had organised earlier.”
