South Goa District Magistrate, G P Naik said that the spate of temple thefts can come as a big setback to the government and trigger a major law and order situation in the district.
While sympathizing with the sentiments of the representatives of Temple Committees from South Goa, Naik said that the thefts, if uncontrolled, would turn out a setback to the government.
The district Collector assured the agitated representatives that he would immediately convey their sentiments to the government for appropriate action.
Responding to the plea by a representative for compensation to the theft-hit Temples, Naik said he would communicate the suggestion to the government as it involves a policy decision.He told the representatives that he would compile a detailed report on the situation after receiving the factual report from the district Superintendent of Police. The report would be dispatched to the government for further action”, he added.
