MARGAO: Saying that the government has no hidden agenda at Sonsodo dumping site, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said the proposed 100-tone waste treatment plant for South Goa will also treat the waste dumped at Sonsodo.
He further said that the Sonsodo site presently used for waste dumping will be available for the Margao Municipal Council for any other use. “The Margao civic body will be able to use the Sonsodo waste dumping site for commercial purpose. The civic body will be in a position to use the site for any other purpose. The new South Goa plant will treat the waste dumped at Sonsodo,” he said, without going into further details of the government’s plans for Sonsodo.
Incidentally, he again ruled out the possibility of setting up the proposed plant for South Goa at Sonsodo. Parrikar’s views on Sonsodo assume significance given that he had made a surprise visit to the dumping site on Friday.
