Candolim Sports Club prevailed over Nerul Sports Club 11-10 via the sudden death after a 1-1 draw to move into the semi-finals of Anjuna-Caisua Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Chapora Yuvak Sangh at Chapora ground on Tuesday.
Nerul shot into the lead in the 15th minute through Deepraj Sangelkar. Candolim fought
back and restored parity in the 42nd.
In the sudden death, Candolim kept their nerves to get the better of Nerul 10-9. Joe Lopes, Canute D’Sousa, Jose Lopes, Samir Naik, Wenseslav Rebello, Bharat Morje, Atish Salgaonkar, Shirish Kanekar, Joelif Simoes and Kliebber converted for Candolim while Sainath Kalangutkar, Pramod Dabholkar, Sarvesh Dabholkar, Deepraj Sangelkar, Julius D’Costa, Radhakrishna Dessai, Dyaneshwar Madgaonkar, Siddesh Shirodker and Vijay Dessai found the net for Nerul.
