CANACONA, NOV 16
Canacona Police Inspector Raju Raut Dessai has claimed that no ‘huka smoking’ activities take place along the Canacona coast.
After leading a day-long combing operations and affecting a few arrests at Palolem beach, PI Dessai confidently claimed that there is no huka-smoking on Canacona beaches.
In a combing operation that could bring out far-reaching affects on few visiting tourists at Palolem and other taluka’s beaches like Agonda, Galgibaga, Canacona Police arrested four lamani women in connection with illegal trafficking of fake goods.
Police also arrested four roadside vendors for allegedly blocking free flow of traffic on the Palolem main beach road and booked about 10 persons on charges of smoking/spitting at public places.
“Contrary to what others feel, there is no huka-smoking at all at Canacona,” PI Dessai told Herald.
“Tuesday’s combing operations is just the beginning and it will be continued in following days and months,” he added, sending a stern warning to visitors to think twice before engaging in any such activities.
“Such combing operations will be a regular feature and any law breaker will be taken to task to make Canacona taluka beaches more visitors friendly and enjoyable,” added PI Dessai.
