MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has written a letter to the works contractor of the retail fish market over the maintenance of the market.

The SGPDA will hold discussions with the contractor to find the way forward for repairs of the market.
SGPDA Chairman Wilfred D’Sa informed that a letter has been written to the contractor who has done the work of the improved retail fish market. But the flooring, gates and other facilities at the market have been deteriorated over the time.
The chairman said, “Letter has been written to the contractor of the improved retail fish market to hold discussion regarding his work contract.”
The fruits and vegetable vendors had complained to the SGPDA over the plight of the market such as broken tiles and gates, garbage being strewn all over, lack of cleanliness and the sorry state of drains and roads around the market. The vendors also complained that the locals from Colva and other coastal areas are throwing garbage at the dry waste dump behind the market.
The SGPDA has asked the MMC to cart away the garbage from the spot and also decided to repair the drains immediately.
