MARGAO: The Goa Muslim Forum has urged Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar not to go ahead with the demolition of structures atop Moti Dongor, but instead come out with their rehabilitation.

Forum President Sheikh Iftikar told newsmen that the government should come out with a rehabilitation packaged not only at Moti Dongor, but other migrant inhabited areas of Azad Nagar, Fakirbandh and Chimbel. “The inhabitants have been putting up in the structures for years now. Instead of razing down the structures, they should be properly rehabilitated on the lines of Dhavari slum”, Iftikar said.

He appealed to the government to nominate one member from each of the three religious communities on Goa Public Service Commission for transparency in the selection of candidates. “Youth from the Muslim community are educated now and they should get the job opportunities along with other youth”, he said, while requesting the government to do justice for the Muslim community.

The Forum has also demanded that the government immediately establish the state minority commission in Goa without any further delay.
