Bhandari committee was apolitical, no discussion on CM, leaders say

PANJIM: After the reports of Bhandari Samaj demanding that the next CM be from its community raised eyebrows, the leaders meeting have clarified that the meeting was non-political and was called to discuss about new chairman of the committee.
Speaking to Herald, Jayesh said the meeting was called on Tuesday in Panjim city to discuss its forthcoming organizational election.
“The news reports are false, the agenda of the meeting was such that there would be no political discussions. There were leaders who have just left Congress and joined BJP so there was bound to be friction and hence we had decided not to discuss anything political,” he said.
For the meeting the political leaders including BJP’s Shripad Naik, Dayanand Mandrekar, Dilip Parulekar, Dayanand Sopte, Kiran Kandolkar GFP’s Vinod Palyekar, Jayesh Salgaoncar, Congress’ Ravi Naik, Girish Chodankar, amongst others were present.
Sources revealed that Ashok Naik was supported as the next head of the community, which has a sizeable presence in the State.
Dattaprasad Naik, who also happens to be BJP spokesperson, said that the meeting did not discuss politics as the leaders from across the political spectrum were present.
On his personal view about Shripad Naik being elevated, he said being second top leader after Parrikar in BJP, should be given a chance to be next CM.
