There are scores of natural calamities across the globe, now in increasing numbers and we note with sadness, so many people who have lost all their possessions, loved ones and maybe even their own lives. It is clear that Global Warming is the main reason and key corporates/countries that responsible are still in denial so that they can continue raking in profits. The USA under the current president is a clear example of the latter.
The question is what we can do? Can such a small State like Goa do anything or just watch it being destroyed by the day. Goa, small as it is, it’s is a perfect example how once a beautiful, clean, green and un-polluted State is gradually being turned into the opposite by destroying our forests, water bodies, hills, beaches, etc.
In Goa, in my view there are basically 3 types of people (this also include Non Resident Goans): 1) The Bootlickers unfortunately covering a lot of Goans who will sell their conscience to corrupt politicians for favours, gifts, money, etc and allow the destruction of their State in the bargain. Then there are the 2) Wimps who also (include well educated Goans) these people well aware of all the negatives to Goa and maybe even hope that others will act/speak for Goa, but they themselves will not speak out or act even in a small way. The complacency and indifference is condemnable of this type of people. And finally there are 3) The Warriors, who I can further categorise into the normal ones who do whatever they possibly can, even if they are in small measure and the Super Warriors, who are out the always sacrificing a lot to create wealth in order to save the State.
The Super Warriors often also face a lot of stress, suspicion and even unjust criticism driven mainly by those who have their own corrupt/selfish agendas! Also it’s important to state there is hardly any support to these Super Warriors from the bootlickers and the Wimps!
God forbid if a natural calamity hits Goa, no doubt it can affect all 3 types of people but then surely the Bootlickers & Wimps would deserve to be despair, for all their misdeeds and non action! The warriors can at least have the satisfaction that they did their part. And on the positive side while mankind does manage to reverse climate change and save the earth, warriors can hold their heads high and be proud of their contribution to the planet.
Who knows the Goan Warriors can even be example to people from outside Goa on what needs to be done to save the planet!
