A number of election duty officers are appointed from various government departments to carry poll duty. On one side voters are pampered on the day of voting, while on the other side the election duty officers have to slog for survival.
First of all their posting is done in filthy government buildings for two days where the toilet facilities are mostly out of order with no water. Secondly there is no proper arrangement for spending the night considering that both male and female officers are posted at one place. Thirdly no provision of food is available at the polling stations in most cases and the duty officers have to manage their work continuously for 10-13 hrs on the day of polling without food and a lunch break. Last but not the least after 2 days of long struggle the officers even do not get a holiday next day though they are relieved late nights after completing all the formalities of the election duty.
