KHED, (Maharashtra): Disappointed relatives of victims of the ill fated Goa-Mumbai bus tragedy have hit out at the government for not making services available to them to ferry the bodies back to the state for burial.
“When we first reached the scene, there was no help from the government. It seems this government only cares for the mining affected people,” a disheartened relative of one of the deceased said.
“At least they could have made arrangements for us to bring back the bodies,” he said also chiding the MLAs for not caring to visit them.
“The Maharashtra Health minister came by helicopter. The local MLAs were here, but nobody from the Goa government,” he said.
Most of those who were travelling on the bus were either travelling to go abroad or going to attend job interviews or for answering exams.
The survivors were brought to the hospital by the nuns of the Fatima convent, in Khed, whose member also perished in the bus accident.
The injured were brought to the Walawalkar Hospital in Sawarde in Chiplun with the help of nuns and Jesuit priests who pitched in.
