TIVIM: Three panchas of Anjuna have accused the sarpanch, the deputy sarpanch and the panchayat secretary of promoting illegalities and manipulating the Minutes of a meeting ~ a charge which has been denied by the deputy sarpanch.
Anjuna Panchas Suhasini Govekar, Sandip Chimulkar and Sheetal Dabholkar have written to the Director of Panchayats alleged that the proceedings of a meeting were manipulated and illegalities were being promoted by the Sarpanch Pratima Govekar, Deputy Sarpanch Savio Almeida and Secretary Babu Shirodkar.
They claimed that permission was granted illegally to set up an adventure company in land owned by the GTDC without the matter figuring at the panchayat meeting. The petitioners further alleged that this development, which is a hotel project, is being carried out in the ‘No Development Zone’ and there is opposition to electricity and water connections to the project.
The panchas also accused Shirodkar and Almeida for allegedly manipulating the minutes.
When contacted, Almeida dismissed the allegations against him and the panchayat.
“The opposition members are frustrated as they are not in majority and are not able to get support of the ruling panchayat body. We have all technical sanctions and we are going as per the rules and the framework of the Panchayat Act. We have not manipulated the proceedings of any meetings. Besides, there is a government secretary there to guide us,” said Almeida.
