As soon as news of Maharashtra registered truck arriving with domestic goods including cupboards spread in the area, the locals protested at the site and strongly objected to Kolhapur-based family’s decision to reside in the flat.

The residents immediately informed the police and Kavlem panchayat about the family’s arrival.  The material inside the truck was santised before unloading.

Kavlem sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar said, “Taking note of the protest by locals, the family members were tested for COVID-19. However, the reports came negative, but four members have been quarantined. The family members claimed to be Goans, but an inquiry is pending into the matter.”
