PANJIM: The State Executive Committee (SEC) was informed on Thursday that 95 per cent of pre-monsoon works have been completed in the panchayat areas.

The meeting of the State Executive Committee was held at the Forest Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Parimal Rai which was attended by Puneet Goel, Principal Secretary, Science and Technology, S K Bhandari, Secretary, Transport, Sanjay Kumar, Secretary Revenue, Member Secretary, SEC& SDMA and others.
Secretary, Panchayat informed that 95 per cent of the pre-monsoon works have been completed.
The SEC asked the principal secretary to monitor the work in municipal areas to expedite the progress to ensure the general readiness for the monsoon.
MD, KTCL informed that 157 KTCL buses were operational on Thursday. He said two KTCL buses are planned for transporting persons stranded in Goa to Karnataka. He informed that 20 buses will be deployed on Friday to ferry the incoming flight passengers from the airport to their hotels, for which KTCL has received payment.
Anthony de Souza, the Nodal Officer (NRls) informed that he is yet to receive details of 68 persons of Goan origin, who are expected to come in a flight to Mumbai from South Africa with other stranded Indians, perhaps on May 22, 2020.
The SEC reiterated that after receiving the details, if required, he may tie up with MD, KTCL to bring these persons directly from Mumbai Airport to Goa.
The SEC was informed that the Konkan Railway Corporation has requested to bring back their stranded staff from Maharashtra and Karnataka, as these employees are required for operating the increasing number of Shramik special trains.
The SEC decided that these staff will be tested for COVID-19, and if found negative, they may join duty immediately thereafter, as done in the case of the other government servants.
Kunal informed that the movement of trains to large States has been planned as per the district where the stranded labourers want to go and added that he is coordinating with the concerned State nodal officers to send trains to the remaining States.
The Nodal Officer for quarantine facilities informed that 622 persons are sheltered in 19 quarantine facilities and six private hotels. Commissioner (Excise) informed that the liquor manufacturers have produced around 5.98 lakh litres of hand sanitisers.
Secretary, Law informed that the registration process has picked up and the department has registered 56 documents and 15 marriages during the day.
The SEC advised the department to keep the process staggered to ensure the social distancing and other safety norms. The IGP informed that the police have so far taken action against 13957 persons for not wearing masks and against 7283 persons for spitting in public places. The SEC advised the continuation of the strict action in this regard. The Member Secretary, SDMA informed that the MHA has allocated a grant for all States/UTs for care of migrant workers.
For this, the SDMA needs to open a separate bank account, as the amount will not be routed through treasury. The SEC approved the opening of the account in SBI.
